Windows XP Set-up Confirmation



1.  Open the Start menu and select Control Panel



2. Select  Network and Internet Connections.




3. Select the Security tab. Nothing need to be done here.




4. Enter the following:
Address: http://www.hpo.net/links.html
Click on the Connections tab.




5. Select the Always dial my default connection.
Click the Settings button. 




6. Enter the following:
User name: Login UserID
Password: Login Password
Click Properties.




7. Click on the Configure button.




8.  Select the Maximum Speed for your modem. This is usually the closest speed above the actual speed of your modem. For example, a 56k modem would be set to 57600 and an ISDN Terminal Adapter would be set to 115200. Select the check boxes as seen below.
Click OK




9. DO NOT SELECT Use dialing rules check box.
Enter the following information:
Phone number: 0570-037037
Skip ahead to point 11 if you have a tone phone.
If you have a Pulse phone, put a check mark in the Use dialing rules check box then click on the Use Dialing Rules button. Then follow point 10 and 11.




10. Click on the Edit button.




11. Enter the following information on the General tab.
Country/region: Japan
Area Code:
This is the Area code from your phone number. For example; if you lived in Yokohama this would be 045.
Dial using: You may have to check with NTT to find out if your phone line is Tone or Pulse. If all your settings are correct and you are getting a busy signal that is an indication you have the wrong one selected.
The rest of the boxes should be clear as seen below, click OK




12. Set the settings as seen in the screen shot below.
Note: If you had put a check mark in the Use Dialing Rules check box on the General tab you must remove it before continuing. 




13. Select the Typical radio button.




14. Confirm or select the following:
- Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
-
QoS Packet Scheduler 
- Client for Microsoft Networks

 

 

15. Select the check box as seen below then continue to click OK till all screens are closed. That completes the Set-up confirmation.
