HPO - News Release - April 2, 2008

As mentioned in our earlier news release, the old WebMail does not work on the new system. However, I have recovered it to some degree and users can now access it and try to recover their address books (copy and paste) and sent email (forward it to yourself). The old WebMail system can be found at http://xwebmail.hpo.net It does not function properly so we cannot bring it back online at this time. I will try to contract the person that designed the this WebMail system and see if there is an update that will make it function on the new operating system. HPO once again apologies for the trouble this may have caused our members and thanking one and all in advance for your co-operation.

HPO - News Release - April 1, 2008

HPO has completed the upgrade to the new servers. Although we tried to bring over the old WebMail Servers to the new machines, it was not possible. As mentioned in our previous News Release, we did not think it was possible, so we asked our users to back up all their data (address book) and download any important email. We have put into place a new version of the WebMail for our users and hope that everyone finds it's functions satisfactory.

If you are using the new WebMail, be sure to set it up for your use. Once you have logged on to your WebMail account click on the "Options" then "Identities" to enter your name and email address, make sure you select the check box "Set to default" in the "Identities". If you receive email in Japanese set the "Character Set"to "EUC-JP (Japanese)" and the time zone to "+9" under the "International" section.  If you are having problems sending email please see the News Release from Mar. 12th regarding the SMTP Port setting change, you will have to change the SMTP Port to 26. Please see our contact information below.

HPO - News Release - Mar. 12, 2008

HPO will be moving it's mail server at the end of March. We would like to ask our users to make a small change to their email programs in order to facilitate the change. Please change the SMTP Port in your email program to port 26 (formally port 25). We would also like to ask that you download all your email from our server as we cannot move the email from the old server to the new server. Furthermore, please be sure to make a back-up of your address book etc. if you are using WebMail as HPO cannot move the address book or any files you have saved on our mail server. Please check the online manuals for details on how to make the changes to your email program.
