Manual Set-Up/Confirmation for Outlook Express



1.1 Start Outlook Express, go to the Tools menu and select Accounts.

 



1.2 Click on the Mail tab then click the Properties button on the right of the screen.

 



1.3 Enter or confirm:
Mail Account: mail.hpo.net
Name: Your Full Name
Organization: Optional
E-mail Address: UserID@hpo.net
Reply Address: Leave blank
Put a check mark in the box Include this account ...

 



1.4 Click on the Servers tab and confirm or enter the following:
Incoming mail (POP3): mail.hpo.net
Outgoing mail (SMTP): mail.hpo.net
Account name: Your UserID
Password: Your Password (this is case sensitive)
Put a check mark in the box Remember Password
Last two boxes mentioning Authentication must not be checked

 



1.5 Click on the Connection tab. Put a check mark in Always connect to this account using: and make sure hpo.net is in the box below. You can select it by clicking on the small triangle on the right and selecting it from the pull down menu (This is occasionally labeled different, depending on how you originally set up your HPO Dial-Up Networking).




1.6 Click on the Security tab. There is usually nothing to do here as seen below.




1.7 Click on the Advanced tab. There should only be two entries on this screen as follows:
Outgoing mail (SMTP): 25
Incoming mail (POP3): 110
There should NEVER be a check mark in the box for: This server requires a secure connection (SSL)




1.8 That's it. Click Apply then OK. When you return to the previous screen click Close. You are now ready to use Outlook Express to handle your Hunter Point Online E-mail.
